A dental crown may be recommended for many reasons and can serve both cosmetic and restorative purposes as part of maintaining your natural teeth. At Smile Viera, Dr. Roppa and Dr. Marshall-Roppa place high quality porcelain and ceramic dental crowns for patients to address common concerns including:
- Damaged or decayed tooth
- Misshapen tooth
- Discolored tooth
- Strengthen a tooth after a root canal
- As part of a treatment plan for restoring missing teeth
Smile Viera offers both traditional crowns that are custom made in a dental lab and same day restorations designed and fabricated in our Viera dentist office with CAD/CAM technology. Dr. Roppa or Dr. Marshall-Roppa will recommend the best option for your particular needs and cosmetic needs.
Dental Crowns: What To Expect
The traditional dental crown process is typically a multi step procedure performed in the comfort of our Viera dentist office. We offer several types of crowns, but a porcelain or ceramic crown provides the best aesthetics and is highly durable. Options include a full porcelain crown, a porcelain fused to high noble metal or high noble gold crown, or a full high noble gold crown.
The first visit involves the preparation of the affected tooth and dental impressions that will be used to create your custom crown in a dental lab. We work with dental labs in the U.S., requesting only the highest quality materials for optimal results.
At the next visit, your new dental crown will be permanently secured and adjusted for a comfortable fit and natural look. Proper dental care and daily oral hygiene will keep your new crown in good shape for many years.
Same Day Dental Crowns: CEREC Technology
Smile Viera uses advanced technology for many dental treatments, including CEREC technology (CAD/CAM) to provide same day dental restorations that are custom color matched and fit for a lasting result. The CEREC restoration procedure will begin with easy and convenient digital impressions- no messy impressions trays and gooey mess!
Dr. Roppa or Dr. Marshall-Roppa will use the high resolution images to design and fabricate your dental crown while you wait using the CEREC milling machine. Once complete, he will permanently secure the crown and make final adjustments for a comfortable fit. You can leave the same day with your final dental crown- and new smile.
If necessary, a local anesthetic is used for comfort, but otherwise the entire procedure is relatively painless- and there is no return trip to the dentist.
