About Dental Implants
The introduction of dental implants over 40 years ago has dramatically changed the restoration of missing teeth. Dental implants go beyond just replacing the biting surface, but also replace the lost tooth root for a variety of long term health benefits:
- Bone retention in the jaw
- Improved appearance with less jaw shrinkage
- Normal speech and no diet restrictions
- No daily maintenance
Today’s patients enjoy an over 95% success rate with dental implants which can be used to replace one missing tooth or to secure a dental bridge or denture when several or all teeth are lost.
In most cases, the greater cost and time commitment up front is far outweighed by the long term benefits for your overall well being that dental implants can provide.
The Dental Implant Process
Dr. Roppa or Dr. Marshall Roppa will create your unique treatment plan and discuss all aspects of the dental implant process during your consultation. IF necessary, a CT-scan will be ordered and performed in our Viera dentist office for placement planning and a more accurate result.
Dental implants are a multi step process beginning with the surgical implantation of the tiny titanium post into the jaw which will both support your new prosthetic tooth and act like a tooth root, stimulating healthy bone growth.
After the healing process is complete, we will attach a dental crown, bridge or denture to permanently restore aesthetics and function to your smile. Your restoration will look and function the same as your natural teeth. You can brush and floss normally.
Routine dental visits with us at Smile Viera will ensure long term health and function of the dental implant.
About CT Scans
When considered necessary for proper implant placement, we will request a CT scan. A CT Scan is a special x-ray of your jawbones and sinuses that we can use to ensure the post for your implant is successfully placed with no side effects or concerns about lasting results. It is quick, painless and performed at our office using a scheduled visit with a traveling CT Scan Unit van.
Dental Implant FAQs
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost of dental implants is determined by the number and location of implants, as well as your overall dental health. Dr. Roppa or Dr. Marshall-Roppa will meet with you to review all of your options as well as the cost of procedures prior to treatment.
Most dental implant procedures are not covered by insurance, however, we will submit the necessary billing and documentation to your insurance company to allow for the maximum reimbursement. We also offer flexible payment options and financing with Care Credit to help make dental implants more affordable.
Are Dental Implants Right For Me?
In order to be a candidate for dental implants, patients should be healthy enough for surgery, have healthy gums and adequate bone structure to support the implant. During a consultation, we will perform a comprehensive evaluation and recommend the various treatment options available to you.
What is the best choice for missing teeth?
Whether you have one or several missing teeth, there are many options for replacement. We will evaluate your oral health condition and help you choose which replacement option is best for you. In many cases, a dental implant is the best choice for someone who wants a long lasting, worry free solution. Dental implants give patients the most lifelike replacement for missing teeth with the ability to eat, drink, speak and smile confidently without any restrictions.
How long does a dental implant last?
With proper care and maintenance, you can expect your dental implant to last a lifetime. During routine visits, Dr. Roppa will check your dental implant to be sure there are no signs of wear.
